Epoxy stucco is normally used to create a completely nonabsorbent grout that is resistant to acidic dirt. It is not possible to remove any residues of this material with normal acid products for initial cleaning. This type of stucco must be removed with Fila PS/87, an alkaline detergent. Pour the concentrated product onto the residue and leave to stand for at least 20-30 minutes. Fila PS/87 softens encrustations of epoxy stucco and makes them easy to remove. Rinse generously with clean water after.
In this case the floor should be rinsed well with clean water, using clean cloths that do not leave hairs on the surface. Rinse the cloths often and wring out well. If the floor is in polished material, it may be enough to just clean with a woollen cloth or floor polisher. To prevent these residues making the floor opaque, particular attention must be paid to removing all dust before washing, preferably with a vacuum cleaner or with special brooms or woollen cloths. Take care not to use excessive amounts of detergent in the water, unless the floor is very dirty, and rinse well after.
This type of dirt is superficial and is not absorbed deep down. It can be removed by scrubbing with FilaCleaner or Fila PS/87 and a green abrasive sponge, or with detergents containing an abrasive dust. Rinse well after.
This generally occurs on the natural or rusticated versions, because the `rough` finish tends to attract dust and dirt. Frequent maintenance with a neutral detergent such as FilaCleaner, or an alkaline product such as Fila PS/87 according to requirements, is important on these types of porcelain stoneware in particular. Scrub the floor well and ensure no residue of the washing solution remains. When this problem is particularly noticeable, such as in public places like shopping centres, bowling rooms, night clubs etc., the floor may be treated with a high-adhesion wax, such as FilaJet. FilaJet creates a transparent, protective film giving high resistance to wear, thereby making the floor less susceptible to dirt and easing maintenance. The possibility of using this type of treatment should first be tested on a small section before treating the whole floor.
Untreated quarry tiles immediately absorb oil deep down. Solvent products such as Filasolv are the most effective for removing it. Excellent results can also be obtained with Fila NoSpot. Spray directly onto the mark, leave to stand for 10-15 minutes, then remove with a brush.
This occurs most often on exterior surfaces where the dampness absorbed from rainwater or due to poor insulation beneath brings the soluble salts in the water to the surface. These then react on contact with the air and become insoluble. Such marks can be cleaned with Deterdek diluted at 1:5, followed by rinsing. If the phenomenon occurs frequently, the surface can be treated with the anti-bloom product Fila ES/82. Apply two coats of Fila ES/82 to a perfectly dry surface, leaving an interval of 24 hours between coats.
Rain, dust and smog can blacken a quarry tile surface outside. Washing with Deterdek diluted at 1:5 is sufficient for removing the deposits of dirt.
The floor should be sponged with clean water during grouting in order to leave it as clean as possible. Remaining residues will then be removed with the Deterdek acid wash. The reason for the acid wash is, in fact, to remove not only saline blooms but also any laying residues or excess grout. If the surface has not been sponged properly during grouting, more tenacious encrustations of grout may remain, requiring the use of stronger acid products such as Fila pHZero.
